The University of Portsmouth has a history of teaching in clinical subjects and is expanding academic development in new and emerging health fields. We are committed to providing the students on our courses with a sound knowledge base that will prepare them to be safe and effective practitioners. We have a commitment to innovative learning methodologies, supported by superb simulation resources.

A Senior Lecturer with some experience of teaching paramedic practice to health science students is required. The successful applicant will have a sound background in paramedic practice and will have registered paramedic status with the Health Professions Council. Experience in teaching and assessment in the Higher Education sector is an advantage.

This is predominantly a teaching position, but an interest in scholarly activity, research and knowledge transfer is expected. The successful applicant will be supported in participating in these activities, both within and outside the School and will be expected to make a contribution to the teaching and supervision of students on relevant undergraduate programmes, such as FdSc Paramedic Science, DipHE Operating Department Practice and BSc (Hons) Human Physiology.

The successful applicant will contribute specifically to lecturing and delivering practical classes including the use of simulation in part-task training. Applicants should have an Honours degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent qualifications and clinical experience. Experience in the use of computer-aided learning, directed self-learning, small group work and facilitated problem-based learning would be an advantage, as would the ability to teach some aspects within the broader area of healthcare.
