A successful Copper Mine in East Africa require an Emergency Response Team Supervisor to join their team. This role will be on a 7/3 rotation and based on a site with high security as well as really well established living and recreational facilities.

Major Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct/facilitate and participate in ongoing fire, gas and hazardous substance related risk
assessments to identify risks and to develop a risk mitigation plan and implement measures to address deficiencies that impact on the standard of legal compliance. Advise on methods to address identified risk deficiencies.
- Conduct fire, gas, hazardous substance and emergency related audits and inspections, on a regular basis and ensure that action plans are developed and implemented to address identified deficiencies. Advice on methods to address identified audit deficiencies.
- Advice on the emergency management related issue impacting on legal compliance and where contraventions are identified propose methods and recommendations to ensure that the deficiencies are addresses to minimize risk to life and property.
- Assist with, co-ordinate and implement bi-annual inspections of all fire and emergency related equipment, machinery and appliances, identify non-compliance and commission remedial work where necessary.
- Establish a core energy response unit capable of responding to emergencies 24 hours a day 7 days per week.
- Assist in the appointment of Evacuation Coordinators and ensure that these persons receive training. Also ensure that they are provided with the relevant protective clothing, identifications and equipment.
- Assist with, co-ordinate and implement fire/ evacuation exercises / drills.
- Liaise with stakeholders regarding the development, maintenance, updating, testing and provision of emergency response plans.
- Ensure that effective emergency response plans are developed, implemented, maintained, tested/monitored and rendered.
- Assist with scheduling of fire/evacuation exercise and ensuring that such drills/exercises are effectively conducted.
- Control, manage and direction of all Emergency incidents, Fire Preventions and Protection activities.
- Daily supervision of Emergency personnel tasks and activities.
- Ongoing training of Firefighting personnel and volunteer Emergency Response Teams in firefighting and other emergency response activities.
- Co-ordinate and command effective response to all fire and other emergency events.
- Ensure routine inspection and maintenance of all fire protection and firefighting machinery, vehicles, installations and emergency equipment
- Conduct fire incident investigations and submit reports as required.
- Make regular reports to management on the state of fire safety.

Unique requirements & Additional Information
- This must be a transparent strict individual who will enforce the Emergency Response and Fire Fighting duties.
- He must be physically and mentally fit to work in difficult conditions.
- He must be self-motivated and courageous.
- Good Communicator and trainer.

Candidate Requirements
- Matric and appropriate tertiary qualification related to Emergency Management (i.e. Graduate/Associate Diploma, or University degree),
- Rescue Operations, HAZMAT Operations, Domestic Fire and
- Rescue Operations, Fire Safety and Education, Fire Technology,
- Fire Science, Fire Protection of Bulk Aviation and Petroleum
- Fuels, Disaster Response and, Senior Certificate Fire Safety.
- 5-10 years in a comparable multi-dimensional environment with exposure to the various discipline's within fire, disaster management, emergency management
- A paramedic Station Commander, Also, a multi skilled Person knowing Medical and Fire fighter functions and Capability's
- Ability to organize, plan and execute/implement fire, emergency and evacuation plans
- Fire Platoon Commander and Open Pit Mining Experience advantage
- Good Communication (English Language), excellent skills of Computer.
