About MAG in Africa
MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. We are currently working across Africa in Angola, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, South Sudan and Somalia. We are anticipating Medical Coordinator roles to come available in our French-speaking Africa programmes over the next few months. Therefore we are particularly interested to hear from French-speaking candidates.
About the role
In this role the successful candidate will provide training, support and capacity building to our medics and mine action teams to ensure the highest possible quality emergency medical support is available in programme.With oversight and responsibility for our medical SOPs, equipment and the overall quality of medical support in the programme, this is a great opportunity to use your extensive medical knowledge to support an organisation working hard to improve the lives of communities in a very challenging environment.

About you
The successful candidate will need to be a qualified medical doctor or senior paramedic with advanced skills in trauma life support, including experience outside a hospital setting particularly within isolated environments with limited means of support.You will need experience of pre-hospital treatment of accident victims including providing first aid in remote and isolated locations. The successful candidate will need to have fluent English and French language skills to be able to work in this role.
You should be aware that MAG’s areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities and can be in tough working environment with field deployments lasting up to three months at a time. You therefore will need to be able to live and work in challenging environments, where your skills and MAG’s work is needed most.

Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year. Staff in hardship programmes are also be entitled to an additional 10 days hardship leave.
Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.
Insurance: All international staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: personal accident and medical expenses insurance; death by natural causes insurance; and access to 24-hour medical assistance, including evacuation and repatriation.
