Qualification & Experience:
• HPCSA registered Advanced Life Support Paramedic – Emergency Care Practitioner (BTech/BEMC) only to apply
• A proven track record of sound operational experience
• Ability to provide a portfolio of evidence of previous operational experience as an Advance Life Support Paramedic – ECP
• Current BLSHCP, ACLS and PALS advantageous
• ITLS, ATLS (auditor), AHCP and other post graduate qualifications advantageous
• Minimum code B drivers licence with no endorsement mandatory
• Must be willing to do standby
• Must be able to work in a team with the emergency doctor and nursing staff in the A&E Unit, as well as with other EMS services out in the field
Duties and Responsibility
• Be a member of the resuscitation team, able to handle priority one/Code Red resuscitation and facilitate the handover of all EMS patient arrivals and transfer
• Respond to EMS calls outside the hospital as directed through Hospital Emergency Assistance Line and those received form the community, including businesses and Government organizations
• Available to assist local/provincial EMS as and when required
• Liaison and relationship building with all EMS service providers in the local and partial outlying areas
• To strengthen and enhance existing relationship and provide additional resource and clinical skills support to these service as and when required
• Promote and market the organization in various community initiatives and at local events, including formal corporate events and other initiatives that are in line with the organization version
• Assist with training of A&E unit personnel and in-hospital staff in Basic and Advanced Life Support skills
• Must have knowledge of patient triage and disaster management and implementation of strategies’ that assist with coordinating and ensuring smooth patient flow and transition
