-To plan, develop, manage and integrate disaster management and execution at the mine, and be the “discipline” lead across exploration, globally
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare policy framework, disaster prevention mitigation and preparedness documentation that indicates the status of each operation
-Plan and develop disaster response strategies that includes readiness and response strategies in compliance with the policy framework
-Analyse the nature and essence of emergency response, evacuation and disaster management requirements in hazardous work environments; and their applicable training needs
-Analyse and identify all relevant internal and external stakeholders, as well as all applicable target populations such as the local government ,emergency response service providers, local community leadership
-Analyse the impact of a possible emergency and disaster situation in relation to possible negative press publications ,government reactions , public reaction
-Analyse the need for proper legal registration of hazardous facilities
-Design, implement, monitor , evaluate and document a comprehensive emergency response/disaster management plan for operational areas and communities which is approved and accepted by the mine’s management
-Direct and oversee the work assignment and performance of volunteers, continuously increase the utilisation of volunteers in maintaining and expanding the availability of resources
-Establish and maintain strategic alliances, professional networks and working relationships including, local, regional, state and national governmental entities, public safety agencies, community-based organizations and other organizations involved in readiness, mitigation and emergency response.
Skill and Experience:
-OSHA Act , Mine Health and Safety Act ,Basic Conditions of Employment Act ,Mining qualifications Act
-10 years broad emergency response planning and integration experience
-Experience of working as a paramedic and/or with emergency response teams is a requirement
-Qualified paramedic would be preferable
-Formal safety qualification would be advantageous
